Hey. Got this problem since 1 or 2 months now. Everytime i play a game my PC (Laptop) just shuts down after a few min. It just crashes randomly. I already checked the temperature and its not getting higher than usual.

Luckily this never happened in cs2d but i tried to play Bioshock and Dead Space and well ye... my pc crashed. This sometimes also happens when i'm in the csgo menu (never happened ingame yet). No idea what this is, maybe someone can help me.

Sounds like one of the following reasons:
• Overheat
• RAM broken (you can test that with memcheck)
• Driver problems. Uninstall and completely reinstall your graphics drivers
• GPU broken. That's the worst case. Let's hope it doesn't come to this

Was it a notebook?
How long have you had that computer?
When was the last time you changed the thermal paste from your GPU?

You must change it at least once a year, I didn't change the paste to my 3 year old notebook and as a consequence it shuts down even if it's idle (and even with Linux Mint which is supposed to use less resources).

It doesn hit the limit but it's still a way quite close to it, I highly advice you to change the paste. It's just an eventual maintinace that you'll need to do over that kind of computers. If your computer shuts down it's enough reason to change the paste, otherwise it'll be burning to a point that even of you changed the paste it'd still shut down.

You can also buy a cooler under you laptop to make cold down where is disc, processor and all. Or take big windmill and point on laptop hah , but wear jumper or jacket

Another tip: put you laptop on 4 small books each corner to make space between down laptop and u desk, this will make hot air will free

Your GPU and/or CPU may not have had thermal paste on it when it was manufactured, go by your local computer store to see if this will have consequences for other components on your notebook (everything in there is compact as hell, so watch out where you put it, it might hit a wire entrance and go boom.. Well. Something like that).

It's paste so pretty easy to handle. But you don't want to let it smudge out somewhere where it's not supposed to be. It dries over time and leaves sort of crumbs. Really it looks horrible after a year.

sounds like a dead gpu.

Even though i don't have any graphic bugs?

GPU Rendering on Sony Vegas also works well.

You don't need a GPU to run a computer and won't get any bugs or errors. Although trying to run heavy games which use a load of graphics could do exactly what you describe: Just shut down.

Note: This depends on the BIOS and how shitty your PC is. I remember that Pentium I and II require a GPU to boot. But laptops like mine (which I take apart regularly) don't need one and work fine.

Well but for GPU Rendering theres obviously a working GPU needed... i guess.

Well is there any way to find out if my GPU is broken?

i had the same situation w/ my laptop before getting a desktop. it was crashing on heavy stuff or maybe even on an emulator sometimes.
i checked it on a computer shop; they've said i need change gpu because it got all burnt out.
though i didn't and i used the internal gpu i had(intel hd graphics) till i got the desktop.

If the notebook is three years old I guess the old method will still work. Take it out and start your notebook, see if it goes bleep.

Its not crashing on heavy stuff in general. I can render as much as i want and nothing happens. It only happens if i play games. (Not every game tho)

Well i guess i have to make the ultimate test and play Crysis x).

@user Yates: Isnt there any other way? I'm a bit afraid of doing that.
