The best resource for Linux and BSD distributions is by the way http://distrowatch.com/

Your list is pretty nice though, especially for starters. But it places the best starter systems too low on the list.
In my opinion Ubuntu, SuSE and the like are the best "gateway drugs" for free operating systems, because they are that easy to use, and allow you to make your first Unix experiences.

it sucks until you learn to use it. Then it rocks, completely free and an entire community that cares. I love it. You can order professionally made CDs off their website as well.

Maybe because you are running Windows XP? Windows XP is not as bad as Vista in these issues IIRC. You have to consider that some years ago there were attempts to implement a very strict > Trusted Computing implementation in any sold computer system. At this time Vista was just in development.
We can be glad that these TC efforts didn't get through as bad as planned or we couldn't run "unallowed" software or hardware at all.

i hope computer isnt screwed...

You can always install another operating system. No need to buy a new computer. Everything software related can always be fixed

For example, you can check eBay for cheap copies of Windows XP (and Vista).

If everything else fails, you can also download a copy of a free operating system (for example > Ubuntu Linux). Although many games don't work, you can still get online and do normal work with it. This should help you out until you get your hands on a copy of Windows.

because i got my computer though a program, the people that were running the program installed my version and al the other versions of windows on mutiple computers to save money.

Have you tried calling your vendor and explaining him your problem? Maybe you can get a new copy of your OS.

you can get every game to run on Ubuntu using "Wine" which is a Linux software which recoqnizes Win Developed software (.exe files etc.)..
i would say: go for linux (have only tried Ubuntu myself), or Win7 (havent tried it but well its probably worse then Linux anyways :P)

Windows 7 is better than vista and just a slightly less better than XP. XP is the best, but i dont know why your computer asked for reactivation maybe a problem with
the RAM chip

That is his personal opinion anyways, everyone has a different viewpoint. Personally I think Windows 7 is free for a reason. I work at a comp store and when people bring in computers with Windows 7 everyone gets a laugh.

I was asking around today about just a ram card installation needing reactivation but people were saying "Hell no." Today I replaced a motherboard and that needed a reactivation, usually RAM is pretty basic. "shove and play" lmfao

Nope, incorrect, there's a long list of software incompatible with wine. Remember, Wine only simulates a windows environment by simulating the windows registry and enabling dll bootstrapping. For native win32 applications, this works great, however, in many cases, trying to bootstrap an app that's dependent on another wrapper will fail since wine can't automatically detect all of the dependencies that all win32 apps will need.

For the curious, the compatibility list: http://appdb.winehq.org

More importantly, they recreated all these libraries from scratch. That means: All userspace runtime libs, and maybe even some of those in the Windows kernel itself.

"Normal" apps should run fine by now. For example even larger ones like Photoshop or MSOffice (who would run that anyway with OpenOffice pre-installed...) run flawless.
Trouble exist with apps which use DirectX because Wine has always focused more on the WinAPI in general than on DirectX.
For DirectX stuff you can also buy a commercial Wine fork called Cedega (actually you get a subscription...) which supports many more games than Wine. Because it originates from the time where Wine was still under X11 license, we can't get our hands on free copies.

Games which provide OpenGL rendering run fine actually (in most cases). Most prominent example are >World of Warcraft as well as other Blizzard games

I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope you'll learn to like it, once you got used to it.
Are there any specific problems? Maybe we can help out
(http://ubuntuforums.org ist also a nice resource site)

Gah! It is illegal to post anything on these boards! Don't worry the easiest solution to that is just google your questions LOL

By telling him that, you are incentivating him to do it, and you are compromising Unreal Software because the post is in DC's board.

so it is illegal to share with spartan our product key, isn't it?

It's also stupid because it won't work.
