I do not own that game on Steam although I have played it before but not all of it, so I cannot mention too much about it.
but hl2 with Smod is very good
Since CS used to be HLCS (since it was a mod and still is, but most consider it now as a standalone game) I was quite interested in it...
Half Life (I think 1) came with my cr*ck*d (sorry) CS, I played its tutorial and its quite fun.
In hl2 you can pick up objects shoot them better graphics new gameplay... I like npc's too they are cool...
What i find in hl2 most cool is that when u kill somebody he falls down on the floor not like in the hl1.6 that he dont fall but just teleport to the floor...
So, Half life 2 is better and with Garrys mod 10, Counter Strike Source and other mods is 100% AweSOME!

Don't remember which chapter it was a long time ago I played HL2.
I still think Half Life 1 is better, the original always is.
half life 2 is glitchy , for example , you can take advantage of the fact that when npcs path to a position(scripted) they will get to it at all cost , even when there are objects in its way by tapping them on the front of the head with random objects and the npc will teleport to its destanation and you can "object fly" , and the game takes ducking in mid air landing on a platform with no damage , thus you can just jump to the ground 50 mile far with no damage
