My cd/dvd-burner was broken... but i could still read cd's/dvd's^^
i had to buy a new dvdburner I just bought a new one a week ago why won't everyone use google for problems?!
anyway, just check your cd, was it scratched or what? its brand new
and i tried google already This might seem odd, but if you're burning to DVD. Check the polarity of the DVD you're using...
DVD-R is the industry standard, however, a competing standard was released, confusingly labelled DVD+R and although all DVD writers write to DVD-R, not all do DVD+R. I found this out after buying 10 dual layer DVD+R disks and couldn't burn to them. It would start, get about 10% way through and spit out a useless disk. Normal DVD-Rs and CDs burned fine.
I have my suggestions for apps to try burning with.
Freeware

OpenSource

Also, this may seem quite "PC whisperer", but listen to your drive. You should notice when it keeps missing information in burning or reading by a noticeable but low level clicking when the laser stutters over the data. If it happens a lot in both reading and writing, go get your money back from the store or demand a replacement. I ma gonna get ma money back
there seems no problem like that but still will try the stuph you said and report back
and BTW the lens cleaner didnt work quite well
