I think they will, first nobody would have believed the steam engine would be a great success too. In history, there are more than enough examples of technologies nobody would have guesed how important they were going to be.
However, a major issue would be trying to manage the air-traffic. If posing no other problems, just trying to handle the air-traffic can be a monumental task to undertake. Moving in the air is radically different from traveling on the highway. If we get an accident at such high altitudes, not only will the cars that took the direct impact be in danger, but also the cars around it. Since we can't just brake in mid-air, this problem can become substantial. Of course, I'm not saying that we won't find a solution for this problem but it's still impractical atm for us to use flying cars until we can at least solve this issue.

I didn't say that we are going to die. Nobody is going to die untill the war comes.
U presented yourself in an apocalyptic perspective in which we'll be embroiled in a war... then you state that no one will die till we're at war. Conclusion, a substantial loss of life will soon occur in your perspective.
Also, can you reiterate why we're going to have a war and how does that really signal a decline in humanity since we have wars fairly frequently. It's human nature to have contrasting opinions with each other thus resulting in conflicts, I can say the same with nations
